Residents from across Berkshire have shared their views on digital access, skills and challenges in the 2025 Berkshire Residents Survey on Digital. The findings reveal a region that is digitally connected but still facing awareness gaps and cost concerns.
Key highlights include:
Nearly all respondents own smartphones and have broadband at home
Awareness of initiatives like Project Gigabit remains low
The majority feel confident completing online tasks, but most have not attended any digital skills training
Cost remains a key issue, with many citing broadband and device affordability as barriers
Notably, 94% were unaware of any local digital inclusion initiatives, suggesting a pressing need for improved community outreach and engagement.
The feedback will help inform regional strategies around digital inclusion, infrastructure, and support services.
"These findings give us a clear mandate to make digital services more visible, accessible and affordable for all residents," said Andy Hockedy from the Berkshire Digital Infrastructure Group (DIG).
